Established in 1987, Finishing Line is a dynamic supply chain specialist offering four main services: eCommerce Fulfilment, Warehouse Management, Contract Packing Solutions, and Returns Management. The Finishing Line provides award-winning 3pl services to eCommerce clients consisting of the storage, pick and pack, distribution, and return management of items.
Founded by Andy Mead at the Essex Young Enterprise Centre, Nobel Square, Basildon, The Finishing Line began its story as a small print finishing business. From the start, Andy’s drive for quality laid the foundation for what would become a trusted name in print and fulfilment.
In 1988, Andy Mead’s entrepreneurial spirit was recognised as he became a UK Live Wire finalist. This recognition celebrated his passion and determination, qualities that would continue to define The Finishing Line’s growth in the years that followed.
That same year, The Finishing Line moved to Unit R at The Enterprise Centre, Paycocke Road, Basildon. This move marked the company’s first major step towards expansion, providing the space and facilities needed to take on larger projects and a growing client base.
In 1992, steady growth and increasing demand led to another relocation, this time to Heronsgate Trading Estate. The move allowed the business to further enhance production capacity and efficiency, supporting a reputation for reliable service.
In 1997, The Finishing Line relocated to the larger Shelton House premises on Bentalls, increasing capacity and operational flexibility to meet growing customer demand. That same year, the company received a Live Wire award in recognition of its strong growth and progress.
By 2004, The Finishing Line had firmly established itself within the industry and relocated to Honywood Square. The new site supported increased production capacity and operational efficiency, allowing the business to diversify its services and strengthen long-term partnerships with key print and packaging clients.
In 2009, The Finishing Line moved into Vange Wharf and continued to grow over the following decade, expanding into two additional units on-site. This period marked a time of sustained investment and the development of the company’s fulfilment and contract packing capabilities.
Responding to a growing demand for retail solutions, The Finishing Line launched its dedicated eCommerce fulfilment operation in 2017 at West Horndon Industrial Estate. This marked the company’s evolution from print finishing into a fully integrated fulfilment partner for online businesses.
The Finishing Line’s partnership with KTP associates, supported by the University of Essex and Innovate UK, marked a major step forward for the business, bringing fresh expertise and new ways of working. Among them was Josh Arrowsmith, now Commercial Director, whose contribution played a vital role in driving the company’s expansion.
In October 2023, The Finishing Line moved its main operations into DC1, Prologis Park, a modern, purpose-built distribution centre designed for scalability and efficiency. This milestone represented a major investment in the company’s future and its ongoing commitment to operational excellence.
By January 2024, The Finishing Line consolidated all areas of its business, Warehousing, Contract Packing, and eCommerce Fulfilment, into the Prologis Park. Bringing everything under one roof created a seamless, integrated operation ready to support clients’ evolving fulfilment and logistics needs with precision and care.
