Company Overview

Founded in 2015, Thriva, is a leading diagnostic health testing provider delivering personalised blood testing kits direct to consumers and organisations across the UK.

With more than 5 million kits delivered and growing demand across both consumer and corporate channels, Thriva required a kitting and fulfilment operation capable of supporting complex medical kit assembly, strict quality control processes, and scalable multi-channel fulfilment.

As the business expanded, operational complexity increased significantly. Managing multiple kit configurations, maintaining batch traceability and supporting evolving B2B demands required a fulfilment model built for flexibility as well as control.

The Challenge

In April 2024, at a pivotal moment of operation transformation, Thriva needed to rapidly establish a new medical kitting and fulfilment operation capable of supporting both direct-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) order fulfilment, while maintaining continuity across ongoing operations.

Thriva’s Main Criteria:

Thriva’s requirements extended far beyond standard contract packing and order fulfilment, and needed a strategic partner capable of supporting:

  • Complex Medical Kit Assembly – Support for multi-component medical kitting across both B2C and B2B channels.
  • Batch, Expiry & order Traceability – Full tracking across components, kits, and orders to maintain compliance and sample integrity.
  • Operational Flexibility – Ability to adapt quickly to bespoke kit builds, evolving B2B requirements, and dynamic order volumes.
  • Quality & Compliance – Regulatory compliant assembly and fulfilment processes aligned with ISO 13485 standards.
Medical Kit Fulfilment

“Tenevo has provided the visibility and control needed to manage a highly complex medical fulfilment operation. Real-time tracking across components, batch data, stock levels and order workflows has significantly improved traceability, planning and day-to-day operational management.”

The Solution

The Finishing Line worked closely with Thriva to develop a custom fulfilment solution built around medical kit assembly and fulfilment, operational flexibility, and end-to-end order traceability. The operation was fully onboarded and live within 7 days, enabling an immediate transition with no disruption to fulfilment activity. Workflows were configured to support both B2C and B2B fulfilment through a single scalable operation capable of handling growing order volumes and operational complexity.

1) Flexible Medical Kit Assembly

The operation was designed to support more than 100 active kit variants across both consumer and corporate programmes, including:

  • Establishing clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for B2C and B2B kit configurations.
  • Sourcing of medical components, along with custom packaging and branded sleeve requirements.
  • Flexible assembly workflows and skilled labour allocation, allowing order scalability.

This flexibility enabled Thriva to support a broader range of customer requirements without introducing operational bottlenecks.

2) Time-Sensitive Fulfilment Workflows

Medical testing kits require speed as well as accuracy, the Finishing Line implemented fulfilment workflows designed to support:

  • 5pm next day dispatch cut-off times.
  • Full end-to-end tracking visibility.
  • Providing 24-hour  outbound and inbound sample returns to laboratories.

This helped Thriva improve service responsiveness while maintaining operational control.

3) Technology and Inventory Control

A major part of the solution was Tenevo, our in-house warehouse management system. Tenevo provided:

  • Real-time stock visibility and reporting across all SKUs.
  • Automated batch and expiry management.
  • End-to-end tracking from kit assembly through to dispatch.

The increased visibility helped Thriva improve forecasting, procurement planning and inventory control while reducing operational risk.

4) Quality and Compliance

Given the nature of the products involved, quality assurance was critical. The fulfilment operation was supported by:

  • Implementation of structured staff training and quality control processes.
  • Full batch traceability across all components, kits, and orders.
  • ISO 13485 accredited quality management systems.

This ensured Thriva could maintain the standards required for medical-grade fulfilment while continuing to scale.

A Partnership That Enabled Real Growth

Since joining forces with The Finishing Line, Thriva has been able to expand its offering, improve service levels, and operate with far greater confidence. Finishing Line’s expertise and flexibility have enabled them to:

  • Offer a broader, more customisable B2C and B2B product range. During a period of strong growth, order volume increased by more that 100%, and the partnership provided the necessary capability to support that scale.
  • Win new public and private sector contracts supporting company growth of 75%.
  • Minimise waste and reduce operational costs by 40%.
  • Strengthen supply‑chain reliability to support high-volume contracts

A major part of this transformation is Tenevo, our in‑house warehouse management system. It provides Thriva with real‑time visibility across their supply chain, eliminating overstocking and stock shortages, two issues that previously created operational risk. Furthermore, by automating manual processes, Tenevo has freed Thriva’s team to focus on higher‑value work, while its reporting and analytics have enabled smarter, data‑driven procurement decisions. Today, Thriva operates a leaner, more resilient supply chain that can scale with demand and adapt quickly to change.

Unlocking Thriva’s B2B Potential Through Medical Kit Customisation

One of the most significant advantages Thriva gained through partnering with The Finishing Line is the ability to customise their medical kits at scale, supported by streamlined medical kit assembly. Their B2B clients often require unique configurations, from bespoke branded sleeves and tailored kit contents to specific packaging formats and customised return processes. These requests frequently arise with little notice, and in many cases, Thriva’s previous supplier would not have been able to accommodate them.

With The Finishing Line, this changed entirely. Thanks to our operational flexibility and value‑added services, Thriva could confidently say “yes” to new requirements, even when they were complex or unconventional. Whether it involved introducing new components, adjusting the build process or creating a completely bespoke kit layout, we consistently provided solutions rather than limitations.

Conclusion

Thriva required more than a standard value-add service and order fulfilment provider. They needed an operational partner capable of managing complex medical kit assembly, strict quality requirements and rapidly evolving B2C and B2B order fulfilment demands without compromising on control or traceability.

The Finishing Line implemented a fulfilment operation within 7 days, supporting more than 100 active kit configurations and managing over 15,000 orders per month across both consumer and corporate channels. Through flexible workflows, ISO 13485-aligned processes and real-time visibility provided by Tenevo, Thriva gained greater operational control, improved inventory management and the ability to scale more confidently.

Today, the strategic partnership supports faster decision making, greater operational flexibility, and a more resilient supply chain capable of adapting to continued growth within the UK and across EU markets.
