Puzzle Post Case Study

Puzzle Post was founded in 2020 by two friends during the first COVID lockdown. Their vision was to create immersive escape room experiences that could be played at home, offering entertainment within the restrictions of that time. What began as a fun project shared with friends and family quickly gained momentum, inspiring them to turn the idea into a business. As demand increased, they soon outgrew their space and built a small team to support fulfilment and production.

In the years that followed, Puzzle Post expanded their product range beyond escape room puzzles into licensed and themed Christmas crackers, including shows such as Traitors, Taskmaster, House of Games and 1% Club. Their growing product line and multi-channel sales model saw them scaling rapidly.

In October 2024, Puzzle Post partnered with The Finishing Line to support the seasonal surge in Christmas cracker orders. Following a successful peak period, they moved all fulfilment and contract packing operations to The Finishing Line in May 2025, enabling their internal team to focus solely on product development and creative growth.

Scaling Challenges with Multi-channel Fulfilment

By the time Puzzle Post approached The Finishing Line, they were already feeling the pressures of rapid growth. Managing high volumes of seasonal Christmas cracker orders alongside year-round fulfilment had become operationally complex, especially with multiple sales channels feeding into different workflows. They needed a fulfilment partner capable of handling both large-scale seasonal spikes and lower-volume orders, while integrating directly with their eCommerce platforms and supporting ongoing expansion.

The challenge wasn’t only about space. It was about finding a partner able to adapt to fast-changing demand while maintaining consistency, communication and quality.

“The Finishing Line have been able to handle both the very big orders and the very small orders, which are just as important but on a different scale altogether.”

Puzzle Post's Main Criteria:

  • Communication – Puzzle Post had previously struggled with slow response times and limited visibility from former fulfilment partners. The Finishing Line assigned a dedicated account manager and implemented structured communication processes to ensure quick updates, transparency and consistent support. This gave Puzzle Post confidence that queries and issues would be resolved promptly.

  • Technology Integration – With orders coming from multiple marketplaces, system integrations were essential. Our development team built and deployed bespoke integrations across all major channels, enabling real-time order flow and accurate stock management.

Platform Integrations & Automation

When Puzzle Post moved operations to The Finishing Line, platform integration became a key priority. Selling across multiple marketplaces introduced complexity in order processing, stock syncing and workflow management.

The Finishing Line developed a series of custom integrations connecting directly with Puzzle Post’s selling platforms, including Etsy, Faire and Not On The High Street as well as integrated with standard platforms such as TikTok, Shopify and Amazon SFP & FBA. These integrations automated order flow, reduced manual handling, improved inventory accuracy and ensured faster, more reliable dispatch. As a result, Puzzle Post was able to scale further without increasing internal operational pressure.

Toys and Games order fulfilment

“We had issues with getting answers out of our previous warehouse, but with Finishing Line communication has been clear and consistent.”

“Our account manager Clare is very good at coming back to us and keeping us informed of what’s happening.”

Contract Packing & Production Scalability

Alongside eCommerce fulfilment, The Finishing Line manages bespoke contract packing for Puzzle Post’s escape room games. Each product contains multiple components (up to 15) that must be assembled with precision. Our team ensures every element is included, checked and activated before dispatch, guaranteeing a complete, ready-to-play experience for customers.

This quality-controlled process allows Puzzle Post to scale production confidently without compromising accuracy or product integrity.

A Partnership Made for Growth

Puzzle Post’s journey from packing envelopes at home in 2020 to becoming a multi-channel brand with both retail and direct-to-consumer operations highlights the importance of scalable systems. Their move to The Finishing Line in late 2024 marked a strategic step in strengthening their logistics and fulfilment infrastructure.

With a reliable operations partner in place, Puzzle Post is now well-positioned to focus on creativity, product development and continued expansion.
